Valuing an estate for Probate?

Valuing an Estate needn’t be as complicated as it sounds

You’ve been appointed an Executor or Personal Representative for a deceased person’s Estate.  One of the first things you will need to do before the proceeds can be divided up and all bills paid accordingly, is to reveal the entire value of that Estate.

Sound daunting?  It can be, but we can help guide you through the process:

  1. Find out the realistic selling price of all assets at the time of the person’s death (not the insurance value).  Remember to include any gifts given within the last seven years (this could include money, property or other assets).
  1. From this figure, deduct any money owing to creditors (include Inheritance Tax).  To decide whether Inheritance Tax will be owed and how much to pay, use this helpful calculator – or simply ask us!
